What are wormers?

Wormers from the benzimidazole group paralyze the supporting proteins in the worm's cells so that the cells can no longer absorb any sugar that is essential for the worm.

Wormers based on the active ingredient pyrvinium embonate also prevent sugar utilization and let the worm starve to death. Instead, the active ingredient niclosamide leads to an accumulation of the intermediate products of sugar utilization, which lead to poisoning of the worm.

Another starting point is the disruption of the transmission of excitation in the worm. Here, worming agents with the active ingredient pyrantel block the transmission of stimuli between nerves and muscles. The active ingredient praziquantel ensures that the worm's muscle cells are overexcited. Both remedies result in paralysis and the resulting death of the worm.

Herbal or homeopathic anti-worm remedies, on the other hand, try to change the environment in which the worm lives so that the worm feels uncomfortable and leaves the body. This is also intended to strengthen the body's immune system so that it can fight off the worm infestation on its own.

Herbal, natural & pharmaceutical anthelmintics

Since the worms feed on carbohydrates, meat, white flour and sugar should be avoided for a certain period of time. Enema made from warm vinegar water with tea tree and grapefruit seed oil can be used to rinse the intestines. To prevent the worms from migrating, the anus can be covered with a fatty cream or tea tree oil, which can also be mixed with garlic, on the outside in the evening.

In the case of worm infestation, it is particularly necessary to ensure good hygiene. Hand washing should be done several times a day, not just after using the toilet and before eating. Change towels, underwear and bedding especially often and cook while washing. The temporary use of paper towels can also be useful so that the wormer is not taken in vain.

Risks & side effects

A chemical-pharmaceutical Wormer has various side effects. In most cases, nausea, stomach pain, or diarrhea can be expected. Since the chemical wormers damage the intestinal flora, it should be rebuilt afterwards.
