Those who look attractive move on in life, find a better paying job and have a supposedly happier partnership. At least that is the widespread opinion of our society. Nonetheless, in search of youth and beauty, the cosmetics industry is constantly bringing new products like Anti-wrinkle creams on the market to bring consumers closer to this dream.
What is anti wrinkle cream?
The effect of anti-wrinkle creams is limited to the top layers of the skin without exception.Under Anti-wrinkle creams means liquid, creamy or oily substances that are supposed to fulfill the cosmetic purpose of reducing wrinkles on the face and décolleté or preventing them before they occur.
Creams generally consist of emulsions and gels and are more than 90% identical in their basis, regardless of the manufacturer. The remaining additives vary, contain hyaluronic acid, the coenzyme Q10, fragrances but also silicones, parabens and much more, which, depending on the latest cosmetic science, should give the skin a smoother appearance and reduce wrinkles.
Despite the huge demand for anti-wrinkle creams of all kinds, their effectiveness has not yet been proven. Test reports of all kinds show anti-wrinkle creams of all brands as ineffective, most recently "Stiftung Warentest", which could not prove or determine a visible effect with any of the anti-wrinkle creams tested. The demand for youthful skin is and remains unbroken.
Application, effect & use
Anti-wrinkle creams usually do not have a medical purpose, but rather a cosmetic one. The daily use of moisturizers can, however, have a positive effect on the skin, for example in the winter cold when the skin is often rough and cracked (see also: dry skin).
The effect of anti-wrinkle creams is limited to the top layers of the skin without exception. If they were to work beyond that and penetrate into the skin layer in which expression lines develop, they would no longer be regarded as cosmetics but as medication and would have to be prescribed accordingly and would only be available in pharmacies and would also cost accordingly.
Like any other cream, anti-wrinkle creams provide the skin with moisture and can thus achieve a slightly "plumping" effect and temporarily reduce the smallest "crease lines".
Herbal, natural & pharmaceutical anti-wrinkle creams
Anti-wrinkle creams There are from all imaginable manufacturers in all possible packaging, fragrances and for all age groups and skin types.
Most cosmetic companies offer anti-wrinkle creams for the first wrinkles from the age of 20, for more mature skin from the age of 30 and for very mature skin from the age of 40. This in turn applies to all skin types, for sensitive skin, for oily skin and for combination skin.
They are available in tubes, cans and other packaging, mostly between 50 and 250 ml in size and, depending on the manufacturer and seller, can cost between 2 euros (drugstore) to a few hundred euros (perfumery and Internet).
The most common ingredients with the aim of reducing wrinkles today are hyaluronic acid, coenzyme Q10, while natural cosmetics tend to contain oily plant substances such as rose oils or pomegranate.
Risks & side effects
The risks and side effects of using Anti-wrinkle creams are very limited. The only thing that can happen is that a user reacts allergic to one or the other substance in the cream.
This must be clarified in advance with the dermatologist. If there are known intolerances to silicones, parabens, etc., you may only resort to appropriate preparations without these additives. In addition, anti-wrinkle creams that are very rich when used on young skin or on skin that does not need such extensive care can cause pimples to develop because the skin is then "overly oily".
This phenomenon is known as "Mallorca acne". Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with using anti-wrinkle creams. In the event of skin irritation, however, the cream should no longer be used and a doctor should be consulted.
Even if anti-wrinkle creams are touted as all-rounders and miracle cures in advertising, their effectiveness is probably a question of subjective perception. Skin care is nevertheless important and it has been proven that it is not a question of money. What is allowed is allowed here. However, an anti-wrinkle cream cannot work miracles.
