Its surface is covered with concentric furrows. The whitish underside has pores. Ganoderma lucidum usually grows sessile on the tree bark. Its mushroom meat cannot be used for food preparation because of its hard consistency and tastes bitter. The health-promoting mushroom occurs in Europe and Asia.
