Abdominal pain - who does not know them: abdominal pain, cramps and sometimes a feeling as if someone has hit you in the pit of your stomach. Women in particular are not unfamiliar with such complaints - quite a few of them suffer from cramp-like pain every month, particularly due to the menstrual cycle. If the pain is short-term and can be traced back to "harmless" causes such as menstrual bleeding, upset stomach or excessive stress, home remedies are particularly useful.
Warmth from a hot water bottle or a hot grain pillow is very helpful for abdominal pain.
A basic rule says: Avoid the cold and seek warmth! Warm feet and kidneys are therefore paramount. This allows the muscles to relax and any cramps noticeably decrease. Warm pads - such as a hot water bottle or a warm spelled pillow - have a positive effect not only on the abdomen, but also in the lumbar region.
A relaxing bath is also beneficial and relieves abdominal pain - although the bath should not be too hot and the circulation should be stable. A relaxed environment usually includes a little rest. Light music in the background is expressly "allowed" - it can have a relaxing and stimulating effect.
In the case of abdominal pain, spicy dishes should be avoided.
In certain cases, an additional dose of vitamins and minerals can be useful: Magnesium in particular has proven itself here - it has an antispasmodic effect. In addition, potassium and the B vitamins, which also have an antispasmodic effect, have an effective effect on physique and psyche.
Above all, vitamin B6 is important, which is contained in fish, cereals, nuts, beans, but also in liver and avocado. Women are advised to reduce their salt intake, especially during menstruation.
The drinks are also very important: they should definitely be hot. Herbal teas work best for abdominal pain - so do not drink black tea, coffee or alcohol! And one more thing: drink a lot - especially if you are vomiting or have diarrhea. With chamomile or lemon balm tea, for example, you can relax well in the evening.
The periods of rest should be longer than usual for abdominal pain. However, this does not always mean that you will only have to stay in bed from now on. Quite the opposite: Movement in particular can work wonders - especially if you feel bloated and bloated, which is due to sitting for too long or eating too much and too fatty food. In most cases, walking around the block relaxes immediately - after all, this gets the circulation going again.
Sport can also help relieve abdominal pain - especially "gentle" sports (walking & Co.) at a moderate pace. Movement also promotes the necessary bed heaviness so that the sleep phase really becomes a recovery phase.
In addition, any nightly disturbing maneuvers such as nightly meals should be avoided. In the end, "Take it easy" and "Wait and see and drink tea" prove to be the most effective home remedies for abdominal pain.
Regardless of whether it is a back or abdominal massage - massages can help to combat abdominal pain effectively. If, for example, the nerves in the lumbar vertebrae are stressed excessively, which is often the case with abdominal pain, a gentle pressure massage in the affected areas can bring about "pure relaxation".
An alternative is an abdominal massage - a light pressure and wave massage, for example with the help of orange oil. In general, oils play a role in massages that should not be underestimated. Essential oils, the ingredients of which should be mild, promise a positive effect: In addition to lavender and fennel, these include chamomile and aloe vera.
Yoga and breathing exercises interspersed in between also promote relaxation - just as meditation can be an important factor in establishing inner balance.
