Every German citizen suffers at least once in his or her life Back pain. Many of those affected even complain of recurring or even permanent complaints. In addition to serious clinical pictures associated with back pain, most back problems are organically harmless. Over 90 percent of all back problems can therefore be treated with home remedies.
What helps against back pain?
In many cases, targeted back training is a successful means of relieving back pain. These home remedies include warmth, exercise, and light massage, among others. Warmth promotes blood circulation and thus ensures an increased supply of the affected tissue with oxygen and nutrients. Pollutants and waste products, on the other hand, are removed more quickly from the affected area. This relieves tension and blockages in the muscles.
The sensation of pain gives way to a comfortably warm feeling of relaxation of the muscles. Heat can be applied in different ways. Warm patches, for example, are practical for everyday use. These work with plant extracts and are therefore well tolerated by the body. In practice, with their warming effect, they provide for an expansion of the blood vessels and an improved drainage of inflammatory secretions, which not only results in pain relief, but also faster healing of the cause of the pain.
In addition, they are uncomplicated and can be firmly attached to the body, do not hinder freedom of movement and work for around 24 hours. In addition, all those affected are advised to keep moving despite the back pain! It would be wrong to "paralyze" the painful region of the body with a gentle posture. This would only lead to a poor physical posture, which would result in further muscle cramps and thus further pain.
Exercise and targeted back exercises have therefore proven themselves as home remedies for back pain. As a rule of thumb for movement with back pain: The back can be moved in a targeted manner despite the pain. Only when the pain gets worse should you avoid unnecessary movement!
Quick help
As a quick help with back pain, the application of heat in the bathtub or in the heated shower is recommended. Taking a bath in the bath relaxes the muscles and thus leads to immediate pain relief.
The heat shower is a little more intense due to its massage effect. To do this, the person concerned sits down on a suitable stool in the shower cubicle and massages the painful region with the warm water jet. If bathing or showering is practically impossible, heat can alternatively be administered as a hot water bottle or via the red light lamp. The latter has the advantage that the particularly long waves of its light can even reach deeper muscle and tissue layers. Essential oils are also known to be effective remedies for back pain.
Ginger, pine or sandalwood oil, gently massaged in, provide quick relief. Acute pain in the lumbar vertebrae can also be alleviated through stepped positioning. To do this, the person affected is placed flat on their back and their lower legs are placed on a padded stool. The thighs and lower legs are at an angle of 90 degrees to each other. This position relieves the spine immediately, the spaces between the vertebrae expand and the pain subsides.

Alternative remedies can also provide relief for back pain. This is known, for example, from preparations from herbal medicine. Tinctures made from ash and aspen or ointments with cayenne pepper extract are recommended here. These also have a warming, blood circulation-promoting, relaxing and anti-inflammatory effect on the locally treated muscles.
If the entire musculature of the body is to be relaxed - for example because there is a general, stress-related cramping - then enjoying valerian tea can help. The same applies to Schüssler salts and homeopathic remedies. With the Schüssler salts, Ferrum phosphoricum D6 is particularly effective for acute back pain. Calcium floratum D6, on the other hand, is recommended for long-lasting symptoms. The following applies to both preparations: The tablets are dissolved in hot water.
The resulting solution is drunk slowly and in sips. Among the homeopathic remedies, Aconitum 30C, Arnica D12 or Nux vomica C30 are known as back pain preparations. In addition, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) or Ayurveda can be used to combat back pain. In TCM, acupuncture and herbal treatments are the basis of the therapy. Ayurveda brings pain relief with oil pourings and massages.
