nausea can be caused by various causes. A gastrointestinal disease can be a trigger, as can food intolerance, stomach irritation, nervousness or pregnancy. Numerous home remedies in particular have proven effective to relieve nausea.
What helps against nausea?
A freshly prepared sage tea has stomach-calming properties and is therefore ideal for people with nausea.Because of its soothing effect on the stomach, gruel boiled with water is an effective remedy. The same applies to cooked carrots: in acute cases, they can be eaten in small quantities throughout the day.
A grated apple often proves to be helpful - it should have turned a little brown before consumption. Last but not least, a mashed banana can also help combat the symptoms. Those who experience nausea should avoid carbonated drinks, coffee, and alcohol. Instead, you can use peppermint, fennel or chamomile tea. Sage tea, like diluted black tea, has also proven itself as a stomach-calming agent.
Ginger tea can also provide a remedy, as the active ingredient gingerol contained in ginger absorbs excess acids in the stomach.
However, if the nausea occurs during pregnancy, you should refrain from consuming this tea. If ginger is eaten in large quantities, it can lead to premature labor. In order to prevent nausea, you should avoid spicy or high-fat food. If high-fat foods cannot be avoided, it can help to season them with caraway seeds to stimulate digestion. A brew made with crushed caraway seeds can also help, especially if the nausea is caused by a feeling of fullness. Nicotine should also be avoided as far as possible, as it can also irritate the stomach.
Quick help
A quick remedy for nausea is fresh air. For example, you can go for a walk if you have the opportunity and your health allows exercise. Sometimes it helps to open a window. In sudden and acute cases, it is advisable to lie down. If the symptoms are accompanied by dizziness, the legs should be put up.
A damp, cold washcloth that is placed on the forehead can provide additional relief. Chewing a slice of ginger can also help quickly. If the stomach is irritated by excess stomach acid, we recommend eating a dry slice of white bread. Rusks and crispbread also help soak up excess stomach acid. White bread and rusks are also well tolerated, which also calms the stomach.
The symptoms can also be alleviated with pretzel sticks or crackers. Many sufferers drink lukewarm cola when they feel sick. However, it should already be carbonated free. Nausea can also be combated with a compress soaked in lemon juice or fruit vinegar that is placed on the stomach area.
This method is particularly effective when stomach pain or cramps occur at the same time. Lavender baths are also said to have a calming effect. However, smelling a freshly sliced lemon can already help.

Alternatively, some homeopathic remedies can also be used. These include Aethusa (dog parsley), Camphora (camphor), Robinia (black locust) and Sanguinaria (Canadian blood root). Applied internally, healing clay can also help relieve nausea.
To do this, it is best to dissolve a tablespoon of the earth in warm water and then drink it. Acupressure can also be used to combat nausea. The corresponding points, for example on the inside of the wrist or below the kneecap, are first pressed vigorously on one side with the thumb or index finger and massaged for one to two minutes.
The process is then repeated on the other side. If the nausea is based on nervousness, it can be combated with autogenic training. Yoga can also provide relief as it generally helps relieve stress.
Last but not least, this is also considered to be the cause of nausea. However, if the symptoms cannot be alleviated by homeopathic remedies or alternative methods, a doctor should be consulted. This also applies in the event that the complaints persist for several days or occur chronically.
